Elk Homes is proposing Colonial Court, a luxury apartment building at 8 Boulevard West, featuring two to three bedroom apartments ranging from 1,400-2,000 square feet.

"There's nothing like this in Pelham," Gary Hirsch, chairman of Elk Homes, said. "We are excited to bring this to the village. We think Pelham is a wonderful community."

Hirsch said the apartments are geared toward young families and empty nesters.

"There's no real option for them in Pelham," Hirsch said. "We think this will give them the best option."

The project will before the planning board next and Hirsch said they hope to begin construction with a month or two of receiving final approvals from the village.  Construction will take between nine and 12 months.

Construction is set to begin in September on a four-story mixed-use apartment building at 215 5th Avenue, next to the Pelham Fire Station. The project was approved by the village board in July.

The building will feature six apartments, two two-bedrooms per floor, ranging from 850-900 square feet.

Ray Beeler, of Gallin Beeler Design Studio, is the architect for the project. He said he is excited to bring this to the village. Beeler, who has lived in Pelham for 30 years, previously helped with the restoration and renovation of The Picture House.

"I have been living here for 30 years," Beeler said.

Beeler said the building will also feature a small community garden in the front. Frank DelPonte of K.O. Construction Corporation is the owner and developer of the property.
