TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- A Westchester developer has recreated a modern version of the historic "Millionaires' Row" in Tarrytown, building on a site where some of the country's largest estates once stood. The end result is Greystone on Hudson, a new gated community that offers sweeping views of the Hudson River and Tappan Zee Bridge, just a few miles outside of New York City.

Three homes are currently listed by Houlihan Lawrence at Greystone on Hudson, and all three are less than a year old. Developer Andy Todd bought the 100-acre property in 2012 and he eventually he plans to build 21 lots and sell them for between $4 million and $20 million. Thanks to this once-in-a-lifetime sale, Westchester residents can be among the first to live in one of the area's most prestigious neighborhoods.

In the 1870s, the area of Greystone on Hudson in Westchester was known locally as "Millionaires' Row." Business titans including John D. Rockefeller, the Morgans and the Lehmans built 61 castles in the area, many of which sat perched on the bluffs overlooking the Hudson River. Greystone Castle, the home that occupied this site until it burnt down in 1976, was built by Josiah Macy, who owned an oil company that was eventually acquired by Standard Oil.

18 Carriage Trail, a home on the lot, encompasses the style and elegance of the new homes at Greystone on Hudson. The estate offers eight bathrooms, seven bedrooms and over 12,000 sq. ft. of living space. Reminiscent of a mansion in the 1920's, this home features amenities such as an indoor basketball court, home theater and a wine cellar. Residents can enjoy views of the Hudson River from one of the many balconies, which offer nearly 3,000 sq. ft.of outdoor living.

Across the street, 19 Carriage Trail features a home with a similar turn-of-the-century aesthetic. This shingle and stone castle features eight bathrooms, six bedrooms and 11,600 sq. ft. of living space. The home includes old world moldings, custom crafted windows and plenty of outdoor spaces for entertaining. Less than 13 miles from New York City, 19 Carriage trail is ideal for commuters.
