Weston Ragamuffins to Parade for UNICEF

WESTON, Conn. – Calling all ghosts and goblins, pirates and princesses! It’s time for Weston's 2011 Annual Ragamuffin Fair and Parade.

The event, sponsored by the Weston Women’s League, will take place Monday at the Hurlbutt Elementary School South House Field from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Kids of all ages can play games, do crafts and compete in potato sack races. First Selectman Gayle Weinstein and other notable Westonites will be on hand to judge the annual Halloween costume contest.

There will also be a parade beginning at the elementary school and ending at a haunted house set up at the Weston fire station. Candy will be handed out to all children whose parents want a safe trick-or-treating environment.

Admission is free. However, there is a suggested donation of $10 per family, with all proceeds benefiting UNICEF.

If the weather is bad, Ragamuffin revelers will gather in the Community Room at the Weston Public Library between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. for festivities, without the parade.
