Tuckahoe Woman Charged with DWI

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – An Eastchester woman was released without bail Tuesday after being charged with driving while intoxicated early Tuesday morning.

Stephanie Valdes, 23, of Everett Street was found sitting in her white 2006 Ford Focus near the intersection of Underill and Columbus Avenue, police said.

A Tuckahoe Police Officer on patrol reportedly heard the crash and headed to the scene at 1:54 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The officer arrived to find that Valdes had hit a tree. No other vehicle was involved in the accident. Although the airbags had deployed, Valdes had no injuries. Police reported that she did however fail a field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

According to Lt. Ray Stabile, once at police headquarters, it was determined that Valdes register .16 on the BAC test, double the legal limit for alcohol consumption.

She was arraigned hours later and released. Stabile said there was no word available on when Valdes was due back in court.
