Tom Abinanti Re-Elected To Assembly With No Contest

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Incumbent Tom Abinanti has won a second term in the New York State Assembly representing the 92nd District.

State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti will serve a second term representing Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.

Abinanti, a Democrat, was unopposed. He represents all of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.

Abinanti was first elected to the state assembly in 2010. During his next term, he said he hopes to increase government and education jobs in Westchester County, restore state aid for schools to stabilize property taxes and implement stronger environmental protection laws.

"The issues are still the same," Abinanti said on Election night. "Property taxes are too high. We need state-mandated relief and state revenue."

Abinanti was formerly a Greenburgh town councilman for six years and a Westchester County legislator for 19 years.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, one of Abinanti's new focuses is to finding a better utility company for Westchester County.

"The Con Ed response to this storm was a colossal management failure," he said. "We've got to make sure we have a utility company that works with, not against, the community they serve."
