TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – For sale: unused land, prone to flooding. Tarrytown trustees unanimously voted Monday to sell a triangular piece of land to the state for the new Tappan Zee Bridge .
The new bridge will be built over this land, Village Administrator Michael Blau said. Officials have not yet agreed on a price for the land, Blau said.
The land is underwater, located just north of the existing bridge, and butts up against the Quay condominiums but does not have any direct frontage, village officials said during Monday's Board of Trustees meeting.
State officials want to build two parallel spans about 300 feet north of the existing bridge. The $3.9 billion bridge would use the same landings on either side of the Hudson River, with officials saying no residential homes on the Tarrytown side of the bridge would be affected.
