Obama Leads In Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Irvington Fundraising

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – President Barack Obama is leading the race in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington when it comes to political donations. In some areas, the president is far outpacing his Republican rival Mitt Romney.

Federal election contribution data shows Obama has raised more than three times the amount Romney has in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. In contrast, Romney's fundraising in Irvington is only about $22,000 behind.

Information on campaign contributions comes from OpenSecrets.org, a project of the Washington D.C. research group the Center for Responsive Politics that uses public data from the Federal Election Commission released Sept. 21.

Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown residents have favored Obama, giving a total of $87,203 to the president's campaign. Mayor Drew Fixell has donated $1,312 according to campaign records.

Romney has raised $25,700 within the 10591 zip code, which includes Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Pocantico Hills.

Obama is leading in donations from Irvington residents in the 10533 zip code. They gave a total of $75,860 to the president. Records show School Board Vice President Phil Whitney donated $500 and notable Irvington resident Eileen Fisher gave $5,000.

Irvington residents have donated $53,225 to Romney's presidential campaign, including a $2,500 donation from Mayor Brian Smith and a $500 donation from Village Justice Desmond Lyons.
