Molinaro, a Republican, formed a gubernatorial campaign committee that will allow him to raise money for a potential run against Democrat Andrew Cuomo, who is running for a third term.
"As Marc has traveled around the state exploring a run, many have asked how they can support and encourage his efforts - the committee provides a mechanism for them to do so," David Catalfamo, a spokesman for Molinaro, said.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who was defeated by Cuomo in 2014, is also considering another run for governor.
