IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Another public forum on a proposed historic district within Irvington is set for Wednesday.

Officials will update residents on the proposed district and the village's application, which is before the state historic preservation office. The forum will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Irvington Public Library.

The state will conduct a four-month review of the proposed district with the Irvington Historic District Committee to further refine the village's application before the site is considered for historic district status in September.

The proposed district is bordered by the Hudson River on the west, Barney Park on the south, Broadway on the east and Matthiessen Park on the north. It includes Irvington Village Hall, the Irvington Public Library, the Bridge Street Properties, the Stanford White “Cosmopolitan” Building, the Church of St. Barnabas and the Irvington Presbyterian Church.

The creation of a historic district is separate from the issue of potential building and zoning code regulations. Any changes or restrictions would be debated after the district was formed.
