TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A former News 12 anchor has been tapped to serve as a special advisor on the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement project.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that Brian Conybeare, of Eastchester, will work as the liaison between Hudson Valley residents and the governor. Part of Conybeare's duties will include hosting day-to-day meetings with local leaders and working with recently-appointed Tappan Zee Bridge overseer and Secretary to the Governor Larry Schwartz.

"As we continue to make progress, Brian Conybeare will help connect my administration with residents and the business community,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Mr. Conybeare has an extraordinary background in journalism and is familiar with the many facets of this complex project. In his role, he will help ensure that affected communities are provided the information they need and that concerns are properly addressed. Together, we will build a bridge that serves all of Hudson Valley."

Conybeare formerly served as an anchor for the News 12 Evening Edition and a co-anchor on the weekly political talk show “Newsmakers.”

Four meetings on the new Tappan Zee Bridge are planned for Wednesday and Thursday. Representatives from the governor's office will speak in Westchester County on Wednesday: a meeting at Berkeley College in White Plains is scheduled for 8 a.m. A meeting at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College is planned for 6 p.m.

Two Rockland County meetings are planned on Thursday: an 8:30 a.m. meeting at Dominican College in Orangeburg and a 6 p.m. meeting at the Rockland Community College Cultural Arts Theatre.
