The Garrison resident, who served as New York governor from 1995 to 2006, has been having trouble drumming up popular support for his bid to secure the Republican nomination in next year's presidential election, The Times reports.

Pataki has presented himself as a low-key alternative to other candidates like Donald Trump, according to the Times.
