Police say they received a call at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday saying that the dog was locked inside the car. Police responded and after observing a multi-colored Basset Hound inside the vehicle were able to identify the owner at the scene.

Lynda O'Hanlon, a resident of Diane Court in Katonah, was charged with confining a dog inside a motor vehicle, a violation of Yorktown's town code.

She was processed at the scene and issued an appearance at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday at the shopping center, police said. O'Hanlon is due to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Aug. 8.
