Joseph Abraham Sr. of Yonkers is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday in connection to the murder of a 25-year-old woman in his Yonkers apartment earlier this year.

Shortly before 9:15 a.m. on May 21, officers from the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to a Van Cortlandt Park Avenue apartment, where there was a reported attempted suicide with multiple victims potentially at the scene.

Upon arrival, police officers said that there was a deceased woman in her bedroom, and a surviving male was still alive in the hallway with “severe lacerations to his wrists.” The man -- later identified as Abraham -- was transported to a local hospital and was been listed in stable condition.

According to detectives from the Major Case and Crime Scene Units investigated the incident, police determined that Abraham allegedly stabbed his wife, Amanda Trenck, multiple times in her body and torso, resulting in her death following a domestic dispute.

Abraham is to face a felony count of second-degree murder and weapons charges.

Police said that both parties were discovered by family members who lived in the same apartment who proceeded to call 911. They reportedly cooperated with law enforcement authorities and several knives were recovered at the scene.
