On Saturday, Nov. 15, members of the Tarrytown Volunteer Fire Department and the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to a burning townhouse unit, according to a press release.

Fire Capt. Robbie Hoyt found an unresponsive gray and white cat inside the unit.

Ambulance Corps volunteers Max Pereda, Tom D'angelo, and Alaric Young wrapped the cat with a blanket, massaged it, and administered oxygen. After a somewhat lengthy effort, the cat started breathing better and eventually started meowing.

Firefighters Gene Gaspari and Brett Enax transported the cat to Greenburgh Animal Hospital.
