Village Foot Chase Leads To Arrest Of Man On Drug Charges

IRVINGTON, N.Y.. -- A police foot chase on Main Street in the Village of Irvington led to the arrest of a man on felony drug charges, according to Town of Greenburgh police.

Lamarr Adams, 28, of the Bronx was arrested in the Village of Irvington on Thursday night. Adams was charged after being chased on foot by Town of Greenburgh police, who said he was carrying two large bags of drugs believed to be cocaine.

Lamarr Adams, 28, of East 229th Street in the Bronx was arrested about 7:40 p.m. Thursday after a short-term narcotics investigation conducted by the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force.

Greenburgh police said that Adams was arrested after a brief foot pursuit near 2 Main St. in the Village of Irvington.

Adams was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Police said Adams was found in possession of two bags -- each containing about 3.5 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. That weight of bag is commonly referred to as an "eight-ball."

Adams was arraigned in local court where bail was set at $5,000. Adams, unable to make bail, was sent to Westchester County Jail pending a court appearance on Monday.
