Tarrytown Police: Drunk Driver Hit Car In Sleepy Hollow

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown police charged a motorist with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he reportedly struck a car in Sleepy Hollow, left the scene and drove through Tarrytown.

Police say Michael A. Lawson, 41, was spotted driving erratically on South Broadway toward Route 119 around 7 p.m. on July 5. A 911 caller reported Lawson's car had crashed into at least one car in Sleepy Hollow and was turning onto Route 119 eastbound.

Police stopped a green SUV near Meadow Street and charged Lawson with DWI and contacted Sleepy Hollow police, who said they were investigating a hit-and-run accident.

Lawson was released on his own recognizance. He is due in Tarrytown Village Court on July 18.

Burglary: A Mallard Rise resident said she returned home July 6 to find her door unlocked and a gold locket, mobile phone and a large duffel bag missing from her house.

Neighbor Dispute: Two Martling Avenue residents were feuding July 7. One resident told police he had seen his neighbor cursing at his kids for closing the building's front door and that the same neighbor had called him a thief because she believed he took her house key. The other resident said the man had threatened to harm her.

Troublesome Student: EF School officials reported an expelled student was refusing to leave the property about 2 p.m. July 6.

Grill Fire: A Franklin Street resident reported smoke was coming from her neighbor's house around 8:30 p.m. July 5. Police found the smoke was from burnt food on an outdoor grill.

Loose Dogs: Several loose dogs were reported to police. A woman reported she was walking on Hamilton Place around noon July 5 when two dogs ran from a yard and began nipping at her dress. A loose dog was reported on North Washington Street around 4:30 p.m. July 5.

Deer: A motorist reported he struck a deer on the New York State Thruway around midnight on July 5.
