TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - A heavy fire caused extensive damage to a Tarrytown home Friday morning.

Tarrytown Fire Chief Eugene Gasparre said no one was inside the multi-level house at 31 Loh Avenue when it caught fire.

When firefighters arrived around 9:20 a.m., Gasparre said the fire already had a big head start. It took 40 minutes to get the fire under control.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

The fire ripped through the home's roof,  causing it to partially collapse.

Gasparre said a next door neighbor had a mild panic attack during the blaze and one firefighter had a minor eye injury when dirt flew in, but no one had been seriously injured.

The homeowner declined the Red Cross's help, Gasparre said.

Con Edison, along with the Sleepy Hollow, Elmsford, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Ossining, Irvington, Pocantico Hills fire droartments and county fire also responded. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow ambulance corps were also present.

"Everyone did an excellent job," Gasoarre said.
