TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Police will step up enforcement on the New York State Thruway next week as part of their annual Operation Summer Brake campaign.
The eight-day campaign is designed to promote safe driving in work zones. The campaign will begin Monday and continue through Labor Day, the New York State Thruway Authority announced .
Throughout this period of expanded enforcement, the dedicated members of Troop T will be watching for those who are intoxicated, speeding, or driving aggressively, State Police Sgt. Thomas Ferritto said. Also, Troop T will be enforcing the Move Over Law to protect maintenance workers, tow truck operators, and state troopers.
More than 800 tickets were issued during last year's campaign.
