SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – A man police described as homeless has been accused of breaking into a Sleepy Hollow grocery to steal food.
Police have charged Gerardo Figueroa, 51, with third-degree burglary, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, after finding him inside the Sleepy Hollow Supermarket on Beekman Avenue around 3 a.m. on Dec. 18.
Figueroa broke the bottom portion of glass on the store's door, police said. Officers found Figueroa standing in the store with food from the supermarket.
Police also say Figueroa kicked at the rear door, damaging the door and window glass, in the patrol car that took him to Police Headquarters.
He was taken to the Westchester County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
