SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Charges against Sleepy Hollow resident Christopher Howson, 49, will likely be upgraded to murder at his court appearance on Monday, the Westchester District Attorney's Office said Thursday
Howson's wife, Theresa Gorski, died after her husband allegedly strangled her Saturday during a domestic dispute, police say. Howson is charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree strangulation. He is currently in the Westchester County Jail.
Gorski, 47, was taken off life support at Phelps Memorial Hospital on Wednesday. She is survived by two young daughters, ages 5 and 8.
Gorski is being remembered as a dedicated advocate for her clients and loving mother.
She worked as a staff attorney in the Bronx Office of the Juvenile Rights Practice of The Legal Aid Society for 11 years.
Steven Banks, the attorney-in-chief of The Legal Aid Society, said Gorski's colleagues remembered her as a wonderful colleague and “passionate advocate for our clients.”
“Our hearts go out to Theresa's family, and her colleagues in the Bronx Juvenile Rights Practice office and throughout JRP and the Society,” Banks said in a statement.
