SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Community service was the buzzword as the new officers of the Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps officially took over Tuesday night.
I look forward to working with the village to make the ambulance corps great, as it should be, Capt. Edgar Jay Brennen said.
Brennen, a member of the corps for 24 years, was sworn-in along with 1st Lt. Shelly Robinson, 2nd Lt. Sung Pak, 3rd Lt. Ryan Murray and Secretary Elena Brennen during Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting. Village officials welcomed the new officers with their family and friends.
Mayor Ken Wray told the group he had been looking forward to introducing them to the public before chiding them to come up to the front of the room for the swearing-in.
In your work, you're front and center, never shy about getting right in there, so same thing tonight, he said.
Brennen replaces Shelly Glover, who resigned after a year's tenure as captain.
Several of the new officers have spent more than a decade with the corps. Murray, an 11-year veteran of the corps, said he was really looking forward to helping out the village as much as I can.
Pak, a newer corps member, said he decided to join because he loves Sleepy Hollow.
I want to do what I can and really want to get involved with the town.
