Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to the Greenacres School shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29, when the custodian reported a case of criminal mischief that had taken place on school property.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the custodian in front of the Sage Terrace entrance of the school, who reported that when he arrived at the school at approximately 5:45 a.m., he found the gate that leads to the playground open, although it is normally secured by a chain link and a lock.

Police said that officers canvassed the area for the link chain, but were unable to find it, while the lock was found, and appeared to be cut. According to investigators, the gate was known to have been chained and locked earlier in the week. The incident is under investigation.
