Police: Irvington Man Steals Women's Underwear In String Of Burglaries

IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Irvington police recently busted a local man for burglary when they found numerous items at his home, including women and girls underwear, thefts he had committed throughout the area, according to the Irvington Police Department.

The 22-year-old man, whom police have not named, was charged with the latest burglary that occurred on Monday, Oct. 10, following a search of his home that turned up numerous items related to local burglaries, police said.

Force was not used to gain entry in the burglaries he is suspected to have committed, Irvington police said.

According to police, the man may have even burglarized the same residences on multiple occasions.

Some of these burglaries went unnoticed due to the fact that the suspect would steals items that wouldn't be immediately discovered missing by the owner. Numerous articles of women’s and girls’ underwear were recovered and are believed to be stolen from different victims, police said.

In addition to the underwear, police also discovered assorted jewelry, men’s accessories; such as pins and tie tacks, alcohol bottles, smoking pipes, commemorative coins, antique lighters and general nick knacks, police added. 

The Irvington detective division is continuing to investigate and locate owners of unreported missing items. 

The department is asking any resident that thought they may have misplaced or lost an item at their residence but upon reading this bulletin, now feel something may have been stolen, to contact the Irvington Police at 914-591-8080 and provide a description and or photograph of that item.

The man is being held at the Westchester County Jail.
