Earlier this year, Dontan Jenkins, a Mount Vernon security guard for the company that protects Levister Towers, gunned down his co-worker outside the complex. Jenkins is facing life in prison after being charged with felony counts of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

In May, former Mount Vernon High School and current Oklahoma University basketball standout Isaiah Cousins was struck by a stray bullet near the complex when a gang fight broke out nearby.
