OSSINING, N.Y. -- An officer was taken to the hospital after his car was struck by a vehicle that was being pursued by Ossining and Briarcliff police Wednesday afternoon, according to Chief Kevin Sylvester of the Ossining Police Department

Ossining police have the driver in custody after the crash, which occurred on Route 9 at Scarborough Road just before 2 p.m, according to Sylvester.

Ossining Police went to Hamilton Avenue to pick up a man who was wanted on felony charges from another jurisdiction. The man fled the residence in a vehicle upon police's arrival. Police attempted to stop the vehicle unsuccessfully, according to Sylvester.

The driver traveled down South Highland Avenue, where he eventually crashed into the rear of a Briarcliff police car, according to Sylvester.

Both the driver and the officer were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Felony charges are pending against the drive, according to Sylvester.

Route 9 remains closed between Rockledge Avenue and Route 117 Phelps Way as a result of the incident. Westchester County Police are investigating the accident.
