Police Chief Michael Cerone observed a black 2011 BMW operating southbound on South Broadway at a high rate of speed at around 1 p.m. on Monday.
Further investigation revealed that the driver, Troy Bjorntzen, was driving while impaired by drugs, specifically marijuana, police said.
In addition, the vehicle was unregistered, uninsured and uninspected, police said.
During the impound inventory of the vehicle, officers located a quantity of counterfeit US currency in the form of new style $100 bills.
Both the driver and passenger, Shaqueena Beard, were taken into custody and processed without incident.
Both defendants were arraigned in local court and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree (Class C felony) with Bjorntzen additionally charged with DWAI of drugs and subsequently remanded to the Westchester County Jail, pending their next court appearance on May 9.
