Robert Mizell, 27, was out on state and federal parole at the time of the incident, according to a Westchester County District Attorney release.
Mizell ordered the driver to get off the Saw Mill Parkway in Greenburgh where they parked in a parking lot. Mizell was accused of taking the driver's wallet and iPhone forcing him into the trunk of the cab.
The victim was able to unlatch the trunk from the inside and jumped out of the moving vehicle on Nepperhan Road. He suffered a fractured ankle as a result and required surgery.
Mizell was arrested after driving the victim’s livery cab in the vicinity of Nepperhan Road adjacent to the Park and Ride Parking Lot in the Village of Tarrytown.
He is charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree, second-degree assault and fourth-degree grand larceny.
If convicted, Mizell faces up to 25 years in state prison.
