Dog Bites Child During Tarrytown Street Fair

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - A mother told Tarrytown police her child was bitten by a dog on John Street while the Tarrytown Street Fair was taking place down the road around 10:30 a.m. on June 3.

Police took the child to the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps' fair tent to be examined while they contacted the dog's owner.

Paperwork showed the dog was up to date on its vaccines and officials filed an animal bite report.

The child's parents said they would be seeking medical attention on their own.

Police also reported the following:

Sick Animals: Police received reports of sick animals on June 6. A sick gopher was spotted on the front lawn of a Heritage Court home around 1 p.m. A sick raccoon was spotted on the front porch of a South Washington Street house around 11 p.m.

Deer Struck: A motorist reported striking a deer with her car near TGI Friday's on White Plains Road around 9 a.m. June 6.

Gas Leak: A Tappan Landing Road resident reported smelling gas around 7 p.m. June 5 in her apartment complex. Firefighters responded, confirmed the smell and notified Con Edison.

Loose Dog: A loose dog was reported on Beech Lane around 11:45 a.m. June 5.

Unwelcome Gifts: A Round A Bend Road resident reported June 4 that someone had been leaving dog feces at the entrance to his driveway, twice in a paper bag and once without.

Drug Arrest: Police charged Letroy Calhoun, 31, with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, on June 4. Calhoun was arraigned and taken to the Westchester County Jail.

Harassing Calls: A McKeel Avenue resident reported she had been receiving numerous unwanted, sexual phone messages from a blocked number June 4.

Injured Deer: Several callers reported an injured deer flailing around in the road near 303 S. Broadway around 8 a.m. June 4. Police said the deer walked into a wooded area when officers arrived.

Car Alarm: Police received a call about a car alarm that had been sounding for 20 minutes near the Washington Irving Intermediate School around 10:45 p.m. June 2. Police impounded the car and issued a violation for the noise.
