Supervisor Welcomes Feedback On Proposed 2014 Budget

The Greenburgh Town Board will hold the first of at least two public hearings on the proposed 2014 town budget this Monday, Nov. 25 after 7:30 p.m. (probably closer to 8 p.m.) at Town Hall.

Residents are invited to express their views on the budget -- which is posted on the town website: www.greenburghny.com

The proposed 2014 budget complies with the NYS tax cap law and could be modified after the Town Board reviews the document.

On the following Tuesdays -- Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 -- the Town Board will be meeting with department heads to discuss the proposed budget and to receive feedback from the department heads re: how the proposed  budget impacts their department. Our work sessions begin at 9:30 AM and continue to the early afternoon. The Town Board is required by law to approve a budget by December 20th.

Feel free to e mail townboard@greenburghny.com with any comments or questions about the budget between now and Dec. 20.

We continue to be proud of the fact that we have maintained our AAA bond rating from both Moody's & Standard & Poor's. Many communities and government bodies around the world have seen their bond rating decline --- just last week Westchester County lost its AAA bond rating from Moody's because they took advantage of a NYS law that allows county and local governments to borrow to pay for pensions (an action the town has not taken).

Paul Feiner is Greenburgh town supervisor.
