Patricia Brady, 86, of Sleepy Hollow; Retired Nurse

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Patricia B. Brady, 86, of Sleepy Hollow, died on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, N.Y.

Brady was born on April 3, 1928, in Ossining, N.Y., the youngest child of Edwin C. and Julia O’Herron Bloom.

She graduated from Ossining High School in 1945, and received her registered nurse degree from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in New York City. She worked at the Ossining Hospital operating room, where she met her husband Dr. William E. Brady. They were married on April 26, 1952 at St. Augustine's Church.

The Bradys moved to Sleepy Hollow with the establishment of Phelps Memorial Hospital in North Tarrytown. She served as a Girl Scout leader, supported political candidates and volunteered in the Westchester Medical Center recovery room. She enjoyed sailing, curling, dancing and golf.

She is survived by her children: Sheila Wallace (Richard) of Middletown, N.Y.; William and Arthur (Jouhana) of Ossining; Dr. James Brady (Karen) of Danville, Pa; and her grandchildren, Mary Brady, Rachel Wallace, and Patrick, Katherine and Meaghan Brady.

Her husband died on April 4, 2002. She was also predeceased by her older brothers, William, James and Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Augustine's Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining.
