Louis Agro Jr., 82, Active In Tarrytown, Army Veteran

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Louis Agro Jr., a longtime Tarrytown resident, died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the age of 82.

Born in White Plains on Oct. 3, 1932, he was the son of Louis and Frances (Della Badia) Agro Sr. He served in the U.S. Army in both active and reserve capacities.

Agro was well-known in Tarrytown for his many church, school and community activities. He had a long association with the Boy Scouts, having been Scoutmaster of Troop 22 for many years and continued to volunteer even after he retired. He was involved with many school and village activities, including volunteering his time at Transfiguration School over the years. He was a former village trustee and deputy mayor. He was also a lector and Eucharistic minister at Transfiguration Church.

Agro is survived by Gloria (Riverso), his wife of 53 years, as well as his sons, Louis F. (Camille) of Irvington, Joseph (Irene) of Tarrytown, Paul (Lori) of Middletown, N.J., and Thomas (Dawn) of North Greenbush, N.Y. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and his brother, Charles (Mary Ann) Agro, of White Plains.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 2, from 4-8 p.m. His funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. at Transfiguration Church with interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
