Kristin Weltzheimer, 80, Former Tarrytown Librarian

OSSINING, N.Y. – Kristin Weltzheimer of Ossining died Nov. 29. She was 63.

Weltzheimer worked as a librarian at Westchester Community College, Purchase College and the Ossining Public Library. She also had served as director of the Somers Library and the Warner Library in Tarrytown.

Born Dec. 24, 1948, in Oberlin, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Margaret Boesche Weltzheimer. She graduated from Oberlin High School and Hiram College and received master's degrees from Case Western Reserve and Pace universities.

Weltzheimer was instrumental in establishing the Ossining branch of the Civil Service Employees Union. She was a member of the Westchester Library Association, the American Library Association, the Rotary Club and the Jacob Burns Film Center.

During the 1980s, she pursued an acting career and studied acting in New York City. She appeared as an extra in several feature films. She was a longstanding member of Union Church. She was also an active member of the church board of trustees and sang in the choir and played the flute for many years.

Weltzheimer is survived by a brother, Harry Boesche Hunsicker of Dallas; and two sisters, Mary Ann Hunsicker of Yardley, Pa., and Gretchen Holden of Portland, Ore.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at Union Church of Pocantico Hills. Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Union Church of Pocantico Hills Music Fund, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation or the Public Broadcasting System.
