John Sullivan, 82, Former Longtime Sleepy Hollow Resident

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - John Sullivan of Middlebury, formerly of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., died Saturday, Nov. 9. He was 82.

Sullivan was born May 14, 1931, to Michael and Hannah Sullivan. He graduated from The Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception in 1951 and The University of Notre Dame in 1953. He joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company's executive training program in 1956, becoming senior vice president and deputy general manager, and the officer-in-charge of the North American Division's National Corporate Group, retiring in 1987. That same year he was hired by the Long Term Credit Bank of Japan, Ltd as a joint general manager of the New York Branch and executive vice president of LTCB Trust Company, retiring in 1999. He lived in Sleepy Hollow Manor for 43 years. He was a member at Sleepy Hollow Country Club and the former Sky Club in New York City, where he served as president for a term. He volunteered on Boards at Marymount Preparatory School and The Church of the Magdalene. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughters, Jeanne Sullivan of Burlington, Vt., and Madeline Sullivan-Drake of Waterbury, Vt.; sons-in-law, Chris Gillespie, Thomas Drake; daughter-in-law, Mary Brosnahan; sister, Joan Kowalski (Anthony); brother, William Sullivan (Sheila); brother-in-law, Robert Campbell; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and cousins, including those from Co. Kerry Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Joanne; and son, John; and sister, Eileen Campbell. Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home, Tarrytown, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at Church of the Magdalene. Burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
