Irene M. Zegarelli, 97, Lifelong Sleepy Hollow Resident

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - Irene M. Zegarelli, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died Oct. 2. She was 97.

Zegarelli was born March 28, 1917, to Giacomo (James) and Chiara (Clara) Ceconi. She was a graduate of the old North Tarrytown High School. She was awarded a scholarship to the Leonardo DaVinci Art School in New York City to study the fine arts. She and her husband were charter members of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Zegarelli is survived by her sons, Edward V., Jr. (Joan) of Keuka Park, Dr. David J. (Elena) of Briarcliff Manor, Philip E. (Barbara) of Sleepy Hollow and Dr. Peter J. (Carol) of Sleepy Hollow; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Edward V. Zegarelli.

Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 5 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills. Interment follows at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
