Frank Lester Sr., 80, Lifelong Tarrytowns Resident

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Frank S. Lester Sr., a lifelong resident of the Tarrytowns, died Monday, Aug. 27. He was 80.

The son of Stephen and Mary Boyce Lester, he was born Dec. 12, 1931, in North Tarrytown. Lester ran a business, Lester's Oil Burner and Refrigeration, for many years. Later, he went to work in refrigeration and air-conditioning maintenance for General Motors. He retired after 20 years.

Lester was a member of the Eagles Aeries 1042, National Sokol Lodge 114, Knights of Columbus St. Elmo Council 318, Tarrytown Seniors and Transfiguration Seniors. He was married to Florence Vecsey, who predeceased him on Dec. 27, 2009.

He is survived by two sons, Frank (Luanne) Lester Jr. of Horsham, Pa., and William Lester of Tarrytown; a sister, Katherine Arnold of Connecticut; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Lester was predeceased by a son, Nicholas; and two brothers, Joseph and John.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Transfiguration Church. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
