Edna Dente, 75, Former Irvington Hairdresser

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Edna Gloria Dente, formerly of Irvington, died Sept. 8 at her home in Wurtsboro. She was 75. 

Born March 11, 1937, in the Bronx, N.Y., Dente was the daughter of Spencer and Dagmar Wingate and the youngest of 12 children.

She loved cutting hair and worked as a hairdresser for the past 55 years, making many house calls and lasting friendships. Dente also was an avid fisherwoman and shared this passion with her longtime companion, Mikie Cassetta, who joined her at their many special fishing spots up and down the Hudson River and at local lakes. Dente also liked to crocheted afghans, which she would then give as gifts.

She is survived by three daughters, Andrea (Rick) Kaminoff, Lisa Dente and Sally (Bo) Bjorkland; and seven grandchildren. A son, Clayton Dente, predeceased her. 

There will be a service from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Dwyer-Vanderbilt Funeral Home in Tarrytown.
