Dorothy J. Roe, 92, Longtime Tarrytown Resident

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Longtime Tarrytown resident Dorothy J. Roe died Tuesday, May 17. She was 92.

Roe graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and was a payroll clerk for the Aeolian Piano Co. in Manhattan prior to her marriage. 

After her children were grown, she worked as a teacher's aide at the Tappan Hill School in Tarrytown, retiring in 1991.

She also was a "blanketeer" for Project Linus, with her blankets used for hospitalized premature babies. 

On May 27, 1951, she married Harvey W. Roe at the Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Bronx. Together they built a home and raised their family in the Heights section of Tarrytown. Her husband predeceased her in 1990.

Roe is survived by her sons, Kenneth and Stanley and his wife, Jennifer; and her grandson, Kyle.

She was also predeceased by her daughter Sandra E. Calvarese; her sister, Irene Salese; and her parents, Louis E. and Angelina DeLucia Petrello. 

A funeral Mass was scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, May 20, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 130 Beekman Ave., Sleepy Hollow, with interment in Kensico Cemetery.
