Connie Keenan, 92, Ex-Irvington Fabric Store Owner

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Connie Keenan, a former Irvington and North Tarrytown resident, died Saturday, Aug. 18 at Noble Horizons Nursing Home in Salisbury, Conn. She was 92. 

Born Concetta Faro on July 14, 1920, in Lawrence, Mass., she was the daughter of Josephine and Antonio Faro. She grew up in Bronx, N.Y., and began her career in the garment industry as a millinery designer.

She left to support the war effort by working at Norden Bombsight. After the war, Keenan returned to the garment industry in managerial roles until leaving to raise her family in North Tarrytown and then Irvington. She eventually returned to the garment industry and ultimately retired as the owner of Sew Smart, a fabric store in North Tarrytown.  

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Daniel Richard Keenan; and four brothers, Joseph, Larry, Charlie and Ame. Keenan is survived by three children, Joanne Keenan, Carol Keenan-Kohl and Daniel Keenan; a sister-in-law; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Noble Horizon's Chapel in Salisbury, Conn. Kenny Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
