Clesson H. Washburn, 78, Of Sleepy Hollow, Retired General Motors Employee

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - Clesson H. Washburn of Sleepy Hollow died Aug. 23. He was 78.

Washburn was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Oneonta, son of Homer and Florence (Stephens) Washburn. He was a graduate of Oneonta High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War, having served in Korea from 1957 to 1959. He retired from General Motors having been a member of the last group of hourly employees to leave the North Tarrytown plant when it closed. He was named an honorary Rotarian by the Rotary Club of Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Irvington for his many years of volunteer service to the committee activities.

Washburn is survived by his wife Judith; daughters, Jean K.W. Genovese of Tarrytown and Kathi L. Bialko of Cortlandt Manor; sons-in-law, Anthony C. Genovese, Jr. and Andrew M. Bialko; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Dorothy Finch.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
