TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Barbara Ann Burnette, a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, died on Thursday, July 16, at Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt after a long illness. She was 80.
Born and raised in Durham, N.C., Burnette graduated from North Carolina Central University with a bachelor's degree in English, moving to Tarrytown and working for the Irvington House and Abbott School until her retirement in 1994.
She is survived by her husband ,William; two sons, Philip of Ossining, Brian Keith of Tarrytown, and a host of grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be at Dwyer & Vanderbilt Funeral Home, located at 90 N. Broadway in Tarrytown, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, at 56 S. Broadway in Tarrytown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Salvation Army.
