SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Anthony Apollonio, a former Sleepy Hollow fire chief, died Nov. 23. He was 58.
He was born Sept. 3, 1954, in North Tarrytown to Michael and Blanche Rizzi Apollonio. He worked as a forklift driver for General Motors Co. for many years. Appollonio was also a past coach for the Tarrytown Wolfpack football team.
An active member of the Pocantico Hook and Ladder Company of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department, Appollonio served as chief and an arson investigator. He was most recently of Pooler, Ga.
Appollonio is survived by his mother; two sisters, Jeanette Hirchak of Pooler and Michelle Apollonio of Montrose; an uncle; two nieces; and a nephew. He was predeceased by his wife, Deborah, in 1996.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
