Anne McCarthy, 87, Irvington Volunteer

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Anne G. McCarthy of Irvington died June 23 at her home. She was 87. 

McCarthy was born in Arlington, Mass., to Emmett and Katherine McCarthy. Raised in West Medford, Mass., McCarthy graduated from Medford High School and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. 

She was employed by ITT Corp. in New York City for many years before retiring in 1985. McCarthy was an active volunteer at St. Cabrini Nursing Home and a board member of her cooperative for many years. 

She is survived by a niece, Katherine McLennan Kolb; and a nephew, James McCarthy. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret; and a brother, Emmett. 

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irvington. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cabrini Nursing Home.
