Anne M. Nielsen, 87, Of Sleepy Hollow, Restaurant Cook

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - Anne M. Nielsen lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow died April 6. She was 87.

Nielsen was born in North Tarrytown on Nov. 17, 1925, daughter of Ignac and Mary Slavik Karac. She graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1944.

Nielsen was a cook at many local restaurants including, Horsefeathers. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors and the Ladies Sokol Lodge.

Nielsen is survived by her son William M. Burke; four grandchildren; her brother, Stephen Karac; her sister-in-law, Antonia Singer all of Sleepy Hollow; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; brothers,  Paul, Joseph, Ludwig, Anthony and John Singer, Edward Karac and her sister Mary Hanley.

Calling hours are Monday, April 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Sleepy Hollow with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
