Agnes Hildebrand, 97, Formerly Of Sleepy Hollow

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Agnes Liptak Hildebrand, 97, of Thorpe Village in Sparkill, N.Y. died at Nyack Hospital Wednesday, April 29.

Hildebrand was born Dec. 18, 1917, in North Tarrytown, (now Sleepy Hollow) to Thomas and Elizabeth Standish Liptak. She attended schools in North Tarrytown and later worked in the accounting department of the General Motors Corp, plant. During World War II, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps. She was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Md., for three years. She worked in the ballistic research laboratory as an engineer’s aide. While there, she studied at the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University where she majored in quality control and its usage in ballistics.

In 1950, she married Frank Hildebrand in Florida and lived there for 13 years. She then moved back to Sleepy Hollow where she lived for 28 years before moving to Sparkill.

Her husband died in 1982; her daughter, Deborah, in 1994; and a brother in 1996.

She is survived by one sister-in-law of Nanuet

A burial was held on Monday at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
