TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Children of Tarrytown can enjoy an enriching experience with the Tarrytown Arts Camp, thanks to a grant from the Westchester Community Foundation.
Not only are children enjoying a colorful and creative summer, but the camp also provides high school students with summer jobs as camp counselors.
The foundation, an organization that helps connect Westchester donors and nonprofits, has funded this program for two years. The youth employment program provides work experience for teens, many of them for the first time.
Counselors gain valuable work experience while working with the youngsters, who enjoy a summer of artistic expression. The teens learn accountability, responsibility, teamwork and more, and the kids get to have fun and play in a multi-arts program every day.
“We are thrilled to support the camp again in 2015. It’s great for the teens and for the children,” said Westchester Community Foundation’s Executive Director Laura Rossi.
