Work on the project has begun again as spring approaches and construction-related activity around the bridge and traffic on access roads are issues of concern to residents.

The New NY Bridge website includes extensive information about the project, news updates, job opportunities, a photo gallery, boater safety information, links to report fraud and waste, lodge complaints and a way to subscribe to news updates.

According to the website, the New NY Bridge is a new twin-span bridge scheduled to be complete in 2018. The new bridge will be designed and constructed to last 100 years without major structural maintenance.

The New NY Bridge will have eight traffic lanes, four breakdown/emergency lanes, and state-of-the-art traffic monitoring systems, as well as a dedicated commuter bus lane from the day it opens.

Designed and constructed to be mass-transit-ready, the new crossing will be able to accommodate bus rapid transit, light rail or commuter rail. The bridge will also include a bike and pedestrian path.
