Warner Library Silent Auction Showcases Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow Artists

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – There's a lot of artistic talent up for bid at Warner Library, from a bamboo broach created by a former Tiffany's employee to a watercolor of Tarrytown's famed Music Hall.

Library officials have asked 57 local artists to donate pieces for a month-long silent auction to benefit the Tarrytown library. The bidding began Monday and ends Oct. 31. All proceeds will go to the library.

A special reception thanking the artists who contributed to the auction will be held on Oct. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.

“We have a lot of really wonderful artists in town,” Library Director Maureen Petry said while describing the variety of art that is available.

Residents wishing to bid on the artwork can get a bidding number from the front desk. Bids are placed in a bidding book, which includes photos and descriptions of the artwork. Images of the art up for sale are also available on Warner Library's website .

Petry said the idea of the month-long exhibition was for people to look around and see if there's something they want to bid on. She hopes bidders will come early and often during the auction.

“Just come in and kind of see what you like,” she said.
