Warner Library Promotes Summer Reading

For many people, summer means picking up a stack of books and heading to the beach or to the park. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents can also take a trip down to Warner Library, where they’re putting on reading programs for both children and adults.

Adults can earn rewards for reading in a program called “Novel Destinations.” Anyone older than 18 can participate.

“After reading or listening to four books or audio books, the adult fills out a log sheet where they review the book,” said Librarian Cassandra Troini. “If they give us permission, we will put their review on our website, without their name attached.”

After completing a log sheet, a library patron can drop it off to the reference desk, collect a prize and get a new log sheet to start the process again. The prizes include gardening items, car windshield shades, wine and aroma therapy items.

Participants are also eligible to win a raffle basket prize at the end of the program, which is a Coffee Maker.

There are also programs children can take advantage of, including the Summer Story time Session, which begins Monday. A full list of children’s programs can be found on the Warner Library website.
