TARRYTOWN, N.Y. A man was charged with several traffic violations and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, after police said they found 12 small, clear bags of what appeared to be marijuana on him.
Police stopped the man's car on South Broadway about 2 a.m. March 10.
The man was booked, released on $100 cash bail and told to return to Village Court on Wednesday, March 21.
The following items were also reported by Tarrytown police:
Alcohol Violations: Tarrytown police charged Spencer Avalos and Alexander Povella, both 18, with third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor; and underage possession of alcohol with the intent to consume, a violation, about 11 p.m. March 9 after stopping their car on South Broadway.
Identity Theft: A student at the EF International Academy reported that someone had used her credit card in California without her permission on March 9.
Flag Damages Car: Department of Public Works employees were hanging a flag on a light pole in front of Edible Arrangements when they dropped the flag. The flag hit the windshield of a car parked below and damaged its glass. Police left the owner a note after discovering the car's owner was not a resident.
Hit and Run: Tarrytown police helped locate the driver of a car that fled an accident in Greenburgh involving property damage on March 9. Police accompanied the car back to the accident scene.
7-Eleven Shoplifter: A man was banned from the 7-Eleven Store on Main Street after he tried to shoplift about 2:30 a.m. March 9. Police said one employee noted that this was the third incident involving the man and that he has been questioned by employees because they suspected him of purchasing alcohol for underage college students.
Wind Damage: An Orchard Drive resident reported that a window fell out of her house and onto the street because of the wind about 2 a.m. March 9. Police helped the woman secure the window. The woman said she would call the builder in the morning.
Public Drinking: Police arrested a man in front of Tarrytown Physical Therapy for drinking a 20-ounce Heineken beer, a village code violation, about 12:30 a.m. March 9.
Coyote Sighting: Someone on Martling Avenue reported a possibly injured coyote about 5:30 p.m. March 8 at Prospect and Martling avenues. Police checked the area but did not find the coyote.
Pistol-Carrying Youths: Police responded to a report of youths playing with a pistol, possibly a BB gun, on Sunnyside Avenue about 3:30 p.m. March 8. Police checked the area but did not find anything.
