TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — There's no reason to leave the Tarrytown area this weekend if you're looking for something to do. Here's a list of weekend events in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington.

Friday

Legend of Sleepy Hollow Musical presented by the Warner Pipe Dream Theatre at Warner Library. 7 p.m.

Beekman Avenue Trick or Treating in Sleepy Hollow. 3 to 5 p.m.Sleepy Hollow Haunted Hayride and Block Party: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Beekman Avenue. There will be a Beekman Avenue block party on both hayride nights starting at 5 p.m. Activities include music, children’s activities, trolley ride and vendors.

Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit at the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Historical Society. 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jacob Odell House at 1 Grove St. in Tarrytown.

T. Roth and the tri-state band Stolen Moments perform at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. 8 pm.. Visit www.irvingtontheater.com for ticket information.

Piano Bar at Bistro Z at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. 8 to 11 p.m.

Saturday

Rockys 5K at Rockefeller Preserve. 9 to 11 a.m. 5K run to benefit trail maintenance.

Actor Alan Sklar performs Edgar Allan Poe's “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Warner Library at 2 p.m.

“Once Upon a Time: The Stories of the Brothers Grimm and Washington Irving” at the Irvington Historical Society. 1 p.m.

Kayaking: Rent a kayak between noon and 5 p.m. on the Tarrytown Lakes Saturdays and Sundays. Instruction available 9 a.m. to noon by appointment. Call 682-5135 or visit www.KayakHudson.com .

Empty Bowls Fundraiser to benefit the Community Food Pantry at Christ Episcopal Church at Temple Beth Abraham. 5 p.m. Empty Bowls is a grassroots project where bowls are donated by artisans and made by congregants and students. A delicious meal of soup and bread will be served in the bowl of your choice, and you can keep the bowl "as a reminder of the empty bowls in your own community and throughout the world."

Tarrytown Farmer's Market at Patriot's Park. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tarrytown Farmer's Market in Patriot's Park every Saturday through Thanksgiving draws together farmers and artisan foods producers from around New York State, selling fresh fruit and produce, chicken, eggs, cheese, baked goods and more. The market also features live music, children's activities, plus representatives from a multitude of community groups. It's the place to shop, meet up with your neighbors and find out what's going on in the village.

Jonathan Kruk discusses his book “Legends and Lore of Sleepy Hollow and the Hudson Valley.” 3:15 p.m. at Warner Library. The book tells the real back story of the infamous headless horseman of Sleepy Hollow - how he lost his head, Washington Irving's influences in local lore. It gives the legends and history behind ghosts surrounding the Headless horseman, like Major John Andre, and the White Lady of Raven Rock. It shows how Sleepy Hollow got haunted. It shares the legends of a region steeped in legends of the Hudson River. It offers tales of river imps, revolutionary spirits, Native shamans, Henry Hudson and more.
